Get your wheelbarrows out!!

That’s not a phrase you’ll hear everyday.
Wheelbarrow full of flowers

Get your wheelbarrows out and have a chance to win a £50 hamper from Blackmore Farm, donated by Ian Dyer.

• First find a wheelbarrow. It doesn’t matter what state it’s in.  It can be old, new, large, small, wooden, metal, plastic, rusty, broken, you get the idea
• Now you need to fill it with plants.  Will you go for a floral display, veggies or a mixture of both?
• We would like you put the wheelbarrow on the edge of your property or outside your house in time for the judging (Thursday 7th July).  Please make sure you don’t block the pavement.
• The best barrow on the day will win the prize

If you are using a large barrow it’s liable to be really heavy when it’s full so please be careful when moving it.

Good luck everyone

Bulb Planting in the churchyard

We have expanded our spring bulb planting this year to include the churchyard of St Mary’s.

With the help and support of Father Peter and the congregation, we planted a swathe of daffodils along the hedge of the Garden of rest.

Come back in the spring for photos.

Cannington Community Speedwatch

All through the year, the hardy volunteers of the community speedwatch help to keep the village roads safe.
Speed is an issue in the village due the nature of the roads, and volume of traffic at certain times of the day. These friendly folk give their time freely to help keep speeds down, and so improve road safety. We are all trained by Avon and Somerset police to carry out our duties, and anyone exceeding the limit is reported to the police and receives a letter reminding them to keep it down. Repeat offenders will get a visit from an officer, and those who are exceeding limits by a high margin will be dealt with by the police directly.

So what has this got to do with Cannington in Bloom. Well apart from having similar aims and sharing a member the speedwatch crew felt that they needed to brighten up one of their locations.

So on the 6th November decided to plant some bulbs to brighten up our sessions in the spring.

Is that car speeding? :)

Is that car speeding? 🙂

The Walled Gardens of Cannington

Thanks to the staff of the Walled Gardens for their continuing support of Cannington in Bloom.

Not only have they come up with this great offer for residents of Cannington, but they are also going to donate 50p for each hot drink purchased in the winter months!

I can personally recommend a cappuccino 🙂

Wild about Gardens week

We are getting ready for wild about gardens week!

And the really exciting news is that it launches our new partnership with Cannington Centre for land based studies, part of Bridgwater College.

We will be making bug hotels, and sowing wildflower areas, so watch this space.
