Duke of Edinburgh’s Award

We have been approached by a young person who is completing their Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. He has asked if he can join us for three months volunteering. We were very pleased that he chose Cannington in Bloom. In return we will write a report confirming his attendance and detailing what he has been doing.

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award website explains what it is all about:

“Many young people find achieving a DofE Award life-changing. A fun adventure and major challenge, three progressive Award levels (Bronze, Silver and Gold) and a wide range of activities offer endless possibilities to anyone aged 14 to 24. Millions of young people in the UK have already taken part in the world’s leading youth achievement award – pushing personal boundaries, gaining new skills and enhancing their CVs and university applications. Time to get involved and go the extra mile?”

Young people often get a bad press and it is great to be able to share this news and be part of a positive movement supporting the next generation to be the best they can be.

This got us thinking, perhaps there are more young people in Cannington completing their Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. For the bloomers, it is always a case of the more the merrier, so please get in touch if you would like to volunteer with us and help to have a positive impact on your local community.
